What is Whitelabel Website Design? [Question of the Week]

We are excited to launch a new series called Question of the week where we take and provide answers to questions from people such as friends or clients who are interested in anything AscendWP. The questions could be about anything ranging from our services, our culture, how our company is run, managing projects, to random stuffs such as our favorite music or how many cups of coffee we take daily e.t.c.

In the first part of the series we answer a question from Pete who wants to know what Whitelabel web design is, and how is it any different from the usual website design service agencies offer.

What is Whitelabel web design?

As defined by That Company “In the digital world, white labeling is when your company purchases a white label company’s services and presents them to the customer under your brand name.”

In the context of website design a company (“digital agency” ) is hired by a client to build a website, the digital agency now outsources the project to a third party; a WordPress developer or white label agency like AscendWP.  The third party develops the website on behalf of the company and is paid for their services and usually has no right to claim the website project in their portfolio.

The agency outsources the project to the whitelabel partner at a cost which leaves a reasonable profit for the agency.

For us at AscendWP we work with digital agencies who need additional help with new WordPress website builds and/or maintenance tasks on existing WordPress websites. We have clients in the USA, UK and some parts of Europe.

The pros of whitelabeling web design is a lot. It’s a good way for agencies to scale operations without having to hire a full time WordPress developer. Agencies can save cost and increase profits margin.

But it has some cons. For instance, controlling the quality of work can be hard, project deadlines can be missed, poor communication from white label partner can also be an issue.

That’s why trust is very important when whitelabeling, because the agency outsourcing is literally putting their reputation on the line when they work with the white label partner.

This is the reason why at AscendWP we are aware that we cannot disappoint our esteemed clients who put their trust in us and we always do our utmost best to satisfy clients and justify their decision to work with us.

We hope this post answers Pete’s questions, there is still a lot to say about whitelabel website design (we love talking about it), but we don’t want to bore our readers .

See you soon.

Cheers!
